LOCK
Evidence before action.
One principle · five marks

The LOCK family is built on one principle: prove it, then act. GAINLOCK acts only on a proven feedback loop. FLOORLOCK opens only for proven speech. PHASELOCK aligns only to measured phase. DENGELOCK locks a balance it has measured. Everything else passes untouched — these processors exist to reduce intervention, not to add it.

Why “proven” is a physical word

Feedback is not a sound problem; it is closed-loop instability — the same mathematics that lives in bridge flutter, in a laser, in tokamak plasma and in a power grid. Its signature is always the same three things together: a locked frequency, exponential growth, and loop causality. A LOCK engine waits for that signature. Without it, the signal is not touched.

The five marks

SOUNDLOCK
SHIPPING
The mark that started the family.
Acts on
The quality mark carried by the modules that listen once, during soundcheck, and then commit — thresholds, key bands and dynamics targets settle and stop drifting.

FLOORLOCK
FIELD-PROVEN
Opens for speech. Nothing else.
Acts on
A channel that stays locked until speech is proven. The threshold is not a constant: it rides the tracked room floor, so when the room gets louder the threshold climbs with it. How far it closes is a setting, not a fixed law: from a gentle hold down to an exact mute. It ships in the range that sounds natural on a stage, and the true-zero figure below is measured at full close. Opening evidence is larynx harmonics or sibilant energy, confirmed by the syllable rhythm of real speech.

SC-16 · SC-1
Measured
True 0.0e+00 peak while locked at full close · full close 539 ms · zero chatter across an eight-word sentence · only −0.89 dB lost in the first 20 ms of the first syllable · six non-speech sources (applause, table knock, dropped microphone, held note, HVAC fan, cough) all closed inside 600 ms · fan 2205 ms → 405 ms, about 5.4× · 0.94% of one core for 16 channels at 48 kHz.
Honest limit
A sustained harmonic source between 70 and 300 Hz — a low organ pedal, a held bass note — measures as voice and will open the channel. So will a recording of speech played through a loudspeaker: no technology separates that from a live talker.

GAINLOCK
IN DEVELOPMENT
More gain, less feedback.
Acts on
Feedback treated as a proven closed loop rather than a steady tone. Three stages: candidate (spectral sharpening), jury (frequency lock, exponential growth in dB, absence of harmonics, persistence), then loop proof — the insert sits inside the loop, so it correlates its input against its own past output. A fan, an organ, a flute cannot produce loop evidence, and are left alone.

TZ-12 v2
Measured
Current TZ-12 base: +2.11 dB maximum stable gain, averaged across four synthetic rooms. Resonance capture across all eight octaves; a 5 kHz injection caught in 1.1 s under bass-heavy program.
Honest limit
The v2 targets are design targets and are deliberately not claimed here. Until a confirmed loop is found, not one sample changes in the signal path — there is no wideband automatic EQ behaviour.

PHASELOCK
BENCH-PROVEN
See your system. Lock your phase.
Acts on
A phone browser becomes the measurement microphone. A sweep plays, the phone listens, and the impulse response is recovered: phase, group delay, arrival time, polarity, and the alignment delay to apply.
Ships in
Standalone tool (in incubation)
Measured
Alignment repeatability ±0.06 ms across runs · clock drift ≈8 ppm and stable over four runs, with the correction applied. Poor microphone placement measured ±0.28 ms against ±0.06 ms for good placement — the uncertainty readout teaches measurement quality with a number.
Honest limit
This is a timing, phase and alignment tool — not a calibrated SPL meter and not an absolute EQ analyser: a phone microphone is not flat, though timing is unaffected by its colour. Bench-proven today; the venue tests are not done, so it is not called field-proven.
DENGELOCK
NEW
The engine finds the balance, then locks it.
Acts on
The auto-balance engine. Two layers: AUTO learns and sets its own working points, and stays transparent until it has learned; CONTROL leaves only the few decisions a working engineer actually makes — style, character, depth, on/off.
Ships in
SC-1 (pilot) · SC-16

Status labels are not marketing tiers — they say how far the evidence goes today. A mark is promoted only when a measurement promotes it.
